The very old ones, in museums, make we realize the hardships our ancestors knew. How they stitched together every scrap of fabric they had to warm their families. How the needed some beauty in their life with the placing of colors and patterns together. How blessed we are today to buy whatever fabric we want, have electric machines to sew, and air-conditioned homes to work in ...in the 90's here today

I hand quilt. I make a quilt because I like the design. As I sew and hand quilt, the quilt takes on its own personality and seems to want to "belong" to someone that I know or who has an important milestone coming up.
I just gave a carpenters wheel king sixe to a young friend who got married for the second time last weekend. I started the quilt 3 years ago -- long before they even met each other.
