The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - series of 7 books, you will NOT be able to put them down once you start. EXTREMELY well written, fun, you will fall in love with the main male character, sexy....really doesn't get much better in terms of pure fiction than this!!

ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES !!!!! I read up to #5, then had to wait for the next one and lost track. Now it's up to 7 and I'll need to start at the beginning to get back in the groove and keep everyone straight! But that is definitely NOT a problem!
ESPECIALLY when you get to meet and swoon over Jamie again!!
I've been to Scotland/Ireland/England and can just picture the places (culloden castle, etc.) and I've probably MET Jamie (or a REALLY good facsimile!

I sent a reply but it went to the end because I did it wrong so I'm trying again. I too read the series and most of it in order. The first one I read was the Winding Ways Quilt which made me go to the beginning and read all of them. When I got to where the Winding Ways Quilt fit in I reread it. They are great. Did you know there is a new one coming out in April? I can't remember the whole name but it takes place in Hawaii. It's Aloha (?)

I am in the middle of Shanghi Girls by Lisa See...and will definately read more of hers.

Water for Elephants was a wonderfull read.

I loved The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseni.

I recenlty finished The Lost Symbol, by Dan Brown...3rd installment to the Da Vincci Code....really a page turner, but I think if there is more, I may get bored of the character.

I really enjoyed Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet and have the sequel to that (can't think of the name right now)

For a classic read, you can't beat John Steinbeck....East of Eden

I picked up a selection by Katherine Govier who is a Canadian author, it is called Three Views of Crystal Water. I loved the story of a young Canadian girl who moves to a small Island in Japan and learns the traditional way of being a pearl diver.

I love to read, I read every day. Last year I read 81 books including the Bible. This year I've read 18. I read all kinds of books and have to many favorite authors to mention. Some of the book I've read that were already mentioned are Water for Elephants. Most of the Elm Creek series. I have both of the quilts books, The 1000 Splinded Suns, I could not get in to Kite Runner. I am up to P with Sue Grafton, I have U but am missing T. Most of Jan Karon I even have the cook book, most of Frank Peretti. I read the Shack, but The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom touched me more. I love Janet Evanovich numbers series, but wish she would clean up the language. It's some of the funniest books I've ever read.

I have read all of Daphne du Maurier's writings. She wrote Rebecca, Jamaica Inn, a short story, The Birds. She's fabulous.
Ayn Rand--one of the most brillant female novelists of all time. I've read all of her works too.
Jerzy Kosinski--fabulous writer.
That's a good start. I'm a prolific reader too.
