Read any good books lately?

Great site. I love to read and I'll read almost anything. If I don't like a book by at least page 50, I lay it down and start another one. I trade with my DD and several ladies at church. I had to quit buying books bc I'll never live long enough to read all the books I have. We can give/take books at our Senior Center.

I've read two incredible books, both by Jeannette Wall.
The Glass Castle and Unbroke Horses
The first is about her growing up in the 40's and 50's and the second is about her grandmother in the early 1900's
I also loved The Elm Creek series, but my favorite was the Lost Quilter, how a slave survived in the 1800's.

We have a "book club" at work and we just finished "A Reliable Wife". We were so excited about it, we couldn't wait to discuss it. There are 12 in our group and small clusters would huddle in the breakroom or restroom to whisper about what the latest development was that they had read the night before. A real page turner and a NY best seller.

I download books from our local library website to my laptop and tranfer them to my MP3, then listen to them while quilting or cleaning or walking, etc. All for free! My kind of multi-tasking.
Recently listened to two different books about Frank Lloyd Wright and his wives and girlfriends.

Great books, I read all the Eugenia Price books, if fact my girlfriend and I went to St Simons Island after we read her last book, went to the cementry she talked about in the book, can't remember the name, and actually saw some of the head stones with the names in the book, went to the fish camp. It was a great trip especially after reading her books.

I love to read all kinds of books, and I enjoy listening to a good book even more. Right now I am listening to "What is the What" by Dave Eggers. It is about the civil war in Sudan and the "lost boys". Not a happy story, but very touching; what an awesome writer Dave Eggers is.
I also enjoyed "The Help"; the narrators on audio do a superb job telling the story.
Audio books are super because I can quilt, clean, garden, etc while "reading."
