Did that about 12 years ago. I was watching my yr. old grandaughter and went to met her mother for lunch. Got her out of the backseat car seat..Locked the car doors. Ate and I had left my purse, keys and of course AAA card in the car. I called them and they were there in about 30 min.

My DH did that once....in the pickup. Had to jimmy the rear window and crawl in to unlock it.

    Okay:
When I was about 8-10 years old, we were at a church picnic. Mom wanted me to take her purse to the trunk. All the other ladies said, "Me, too." The men put their wallets and keys in their wives purses. I stuck my arms out straight in front of me and the women hung all their purses on my arms. My dad put the trunk key in my hand. I walked to the car, unlocked the trunk. When it popped open I dumped all the purses in the trunk, along with Dad's keys. I closed the trunk and skipped back the the picnic. When Dad asked for the keys, I nearly swallowed my tongue. No one could go anywhere! No one!! Someone walked to a phone (long before cell phones) and called a locksmith. Wow! I felt terrible. BTW, my Dad was the Pastor!

No, you are not alone. I did that at the gas station. Some kind man took a coat hanger from his car and unlocked it for me. Also, at Mc Donalds. Had to wait there for 1 1/2 hrs. Locked them in trunk and had to pay 60.00 for them to make a dup key.

Been there, done that! What's really bad is when you forget to go home and your kids call and ask, "Mom, when are you coming home from the grocery store?" "Why?" "Because you've been gone 3 hours already!"

I did that at age 36 in 1988. My son was in the car in a car seat. Thankfully, it was near home and a neighbor called my DH to bring the extra keys. Only took 5 minutes for DH to get there but I was in a panic. I would have broken a window to get in if it came to that.

So no, you are not alone. And yes, it made me feel very STUPID. I really heard it from DH but I guess it frightened him too.

Sad to say, I have indeed done the same thing. Came home from church one Sunday and late in the afternoon I was surprised when my son asked for the keys to my car. He said the lights were on. I was surprised because although the car is not old by any means it does have that feature whereby the lights turn themselves off after the engine has been turned off for a few minutes. Couldn't find my keys. Yup, you guessed it. The car had been sitting in the driveway all afternoon running. I am, BTW, 61yo and don't consider myself old.
