I remember 19 cents for gallon
Of course I do..., We were living in St. Louis, Mo in the early 1970's sometimes with the "Gas Wars" we paid 19 cents per gallon. We lived in the County and worked in the City ... so 19 center per gallon was very good for our young family. I also remember our wages were much lower. thanks for the memories...

i can remember asking the attendant (you remember ... the guys who pumped our gas, checked our oil & radiator, tires and washed all the windows ... for no extra charge) why the gas had gone up to 28 cents. were they pumping liquid gold?
i guess it is now liquified diamonds.

Yes, I do - I was a teenager in the 60's and my dad would give me and my sister $1.00 and we would get his car (a '55 Chevy) and put in a gallon or two of gas and go buy a pack of cigarettes for 25¢ and go "cruising" - seeing all of our friends at the various drive-in's - and actually have enough money to buy some french fries or hamburgers at McDonalds - then it was only a drive-in - there were no seats inside - you just had to use the walk-up window. My dad predicted that someday gas would cost $1 and a pound of hamburger would cost $1 and a loaf of bread would cost $1 and a pack of cigarettes would cost $1 - he has been dead for almost 40 years!!!

My husband was chatting with a friend while filling up his truck, was he in shock when the bill was $81.50. I just heard on late night radio that with the government now buying gas on the stock market, like they were with the Gold, we could end
up paying $15.00 a gallon. Home is looking better every day.

I remember gas wars when I was in HS. .23-.24 a gallon. I'd put .50 in the tank of my 1964 Impala & go cruising with my GFs. Of course minimum wage was $1.25 and we were making .50/hr for babysitting. I also recall being completely insensed when it cost me $5.00 to fill up my Pinto in 1975! I laugh about it now, but it wasn't funny then! :-)
