River levels in Baton Rouge

I agree with Nancy in Louisiana (above post). One has to physically do something to take the mind to a pleasant place when disaster happens. Your machines, fabric and photos will keep your mind at ease--by all means, take as much as you can. My prayers are with everyone within mother nature's flooding. One cannot fight the river when it is so swollen. Stay safe.

Just wanted to let everyone know we are heading back to Baton Rouge today from Atlanta. It looks like the Spillway is doing its job (unfortunately at the expense of those who live in the flooded areas) and Baton Rouge and New Orleans should remain safe if the levees stay, which they should, but then again, who knows. We did hear that the USDA is going to honor the flood insurance for the farmers, so even though the floods are devastating and nothing can make up for the disruption of life, they will at least get something. I hope it comes to them quickly and without aggravation. We looked at some nice houses a little north of Atlanta. Would be great. Hubby still not sure. Oh well.

It is a scarey situation. You and all the people down there will be in our prayers. Just keep God in control and you will be ok. My kids pictures, my Bernina and my stash and oh Yes, my DH is what I would take. Nothing wrong with your priorties.

We are fine now that the Spillway is opened. So we are safe at a cost to others. We drove over the spillway today on a daytrip. Interesting to see all that water spewing out of the spillway into the Atchafalaya basin and then the Atchafalaya river.
