I started doing that last year after reading an article somewhere. I recently found a birdnest (abandoned now) with some of my scraps in it. It was in a hanging basket...silly, but I was thrilled!

I love sparrows!! When I lived in an apt. with a balcony, I would put crumbs out. One sparrow would come by, eat a crumb., and fly off. Then come back with his buddies. A better character than many people I know.

I think "nastiness" is best reserved for people. Birds and other critters are only doing what nature meant them to do.

If I could send all of the sparrows to you I would in a heartbeat, but I guess the Kitty would miss his extra meals.

What a great idea. I'd never thought of that. I do have a bag beside my chair in front of the machine that I do put the threads and tiny scraps in and now I'm going to take them out to the birds in the spring. We do love the birds and feed them.
