I made a tote bag for my friend out of her husband's childhood woolen suit coat. The coat was about 50 years old and falling apart. I was able to salvage it to make this bag for her. She is a special needs teacher and now she uses this to take her lunch to school. The handles were made from the sleeves and the bag was made from the area where the pockets were and can be used for a cell phone, keys, etc. I used the buttons from the sleeves to adorn the area where the handles meet the bag. I used the lining from another jacket for the inside since the lining from this coat was torn. My only regret is that I didn't take picture of the coat before I tore it apart.

Love the bag - it looks so professional. What a fabulous way to recycle.
