Separating Zipper?
I am confused about this kind of zipper. Is it suppose to separate on both ends like a jacket. I am making a purse and it is calling for one of these 12 inches long. please tell me if this is what they mean?

Yes, a separating zipper separates on both ends like on a jacket. Many tote bag patterns call for separating zippers, especially if they are on the top of the bag so you can fully open up the bag from end to end.

ha, ha. i had a jacket with two zipper pulls, one near the top and one at the bottom. Needless to say i slipped that jacket over my head! finally gave it away. lovely lime green color too!

I've seen bags that have a zipper that extends about 5" or so past the opening of the bag. I always wondered why. Now after reading your post I think that may be why...so it opens more. And since I have a bag to make for my daughter I was thinking about doing this with the zipper.
