I don't know. I bought mine at a craft show. I'll check with the natural food store. I will make a small rice one and heat it every evening for a while and see if I have a repeat of the same problem. The ones I made last Winter were not all cotton.

I may have found a pattern, but it has curved pinwheels along with circles. Yikes! I will need many more fabrics or I'll have to repeat the colors I have more often. Decisions, decisions.

Good morning everybody! It's Sept 11,2011 - ten years since the attack on the World Trade Center. Hard to believe it's been that long. Time flies when your having fun.

I would like a pattern for one of those rice (buckwheat) bags to go around my neck. I bet it would help my nerves that are currently being worked on with physical therapy. So ir anyone has a pattern could you please post it or PM it to me.

Went to Quilt Expo in Madison yesterday. There were some of the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen. Techniques that I've never seen before either. Got lots of ideas (just what I need is more ideas). I especially liked the ones that were portraits. A 9 yr old boy entered a quilt picturing him and his sister fishing. Such talent and so young! I liked the quilts that showed dimension also. I'd better get going on my UFO so I can start working on all my new ideas!

The last two days food has been good, need to increase my water intake though. I have stayed under my allowed calories on MFP so I feel good about that.

Today is Rally Sunday at church. Sunday School starts and we go back to our winter schedule of 3 services on Sunday morning instead of 1. It is always chaotic on Rally Sunday.
We also go from feeding about 100 people treats to feeding almost 300. Hopefully I'll be to busy to get into much trouble.

Well hope everyone has a good day. I saw that one of you ladies have to have quilt blocks done by Monday morning. Good luck and happy quilting!

    Jeanne,
I've been thinking about your protein issue and no chomping, here are some things I've done when teethless.

    Hummus
    cottage cheese
    eggs
    peanut butter
tuna in the packages (seems to be flakier)

I have false teeth and when my mouth hurts I skip the teeth for the day. These are my protein foods on those days.

You can always do yogurt smoothies in the blender, using sugar free yogurt. Of course, you could eat yogurt too.

Jeanne, when my children were on soft foods, I put meat in the blender. After they got past the texture, they decided it tasted the same. L was diabetic, D was hypoglycemia, so I could not just feed them milkshakes. Imagine a seven year old on that kind of food.

Have a good day, everyone. I'll check in later. J

Sunday is our weigh-in day -- I stayed the same but DH finally hit his big 00 number. We both have been getting in a lot of outdoor exercise so I feel good and in better shape, even if I didn't take any off.

Yesterday we did a huge burn brush pile. It burned all day and smouldered all night -- big tree trunks and root stumps. Today we start piling up a new pile. Lots more scrub and dead limbs to get rid of. Summer and fall are fun seasons for us. We live in a condo in the winter so this is outdoors time.

I hope everyone is doing well. You all work so much harder than I do, I sometimes feel guilty that I don't do more.

Thanks MJ for the suggestions. I will use them.

I made it through church this morning eating only 3 cookies. That's a big improvement for me. It sure was chaotic, all the kids were back with this being the first day of Sunday School for the year. We went from serving 100 people last week to almost 300 this week. It was just crazy. We picked up two of our grandkids and took them to Sunday School - they had a ball. It's nice spending Sunday morning with them. They are getting so big.

Well, I'm off to baste a quilt with DH. Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

My next big day will be when I hit underland, but still a ways to go.No exercise today & tomor,DH has appt at univ hosp. That will be enough walking for me.Hope everyone is having a health wk end.

hi all! i've been busy on the blocks, but hit a curve in the road. i have 3 done and i'm working on my fourth. the curve is-- i decided this christmas block should represent the animals, so i cut 3 triangles for trees and 4or5 birds and 2 owls. originally i was going to raw edge applique, but couldn't find the sticky stuff so now i'm needleturn appliqueing. much slower...much more time so no way will i be finished by monday. grrrr.. and once again i did it to myself! as soon as i get a break i will have to straighten my quilting area. it's surprising i can find the sm. lol! as a special treat we are going to the movies. i have heard all good things about the help. fortunately i don't care about the treats (liar, liar!) so i'll be fine with just my water bottle hidden in my purse. maybe i'll do some air corn, too. my husband wants dinner before we go, but i just finished a smoothie, so he'll have to cook it himself while i shower. poor dear! i've done well with the food and better with the water, and my usual almost no exercize. it is getting cooler which means monkey and i will get to walk together soon. they say if you have a fat dog you are not getting enough exercize. so true! kitten is such a joyful little girl, she runs and jumps just for the glee of it! monkey and i are more refined. lol
everyone soundds good so far! jeanne, try a protien shake. i've been supplementing with eas soy shakes and they are delicious-- check the sugar--i forgot about the hypoglcemia, so they may not work afterall. hmmm.... i'll think some more!
off to my hot date! missy, good to hear from you again! we definitely notice when you're not here. glad you are so happy!i am losing weight. i am in control. it is up to me. (5 words, 10 letters) today is 9/11 and i am avoiding tv. i have no trouble remembering that day, where i was, what i was doing, and all that happened. for the last 10 yrs september has worn a cloak of sadness, and i just can't add to it by watching the events again. maybe in another 10 yrs. who knows?

We have arrived on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. We have checked into the bridal suite and wow this room is nice! We have a hot tub in it (in addition to the regular bathroom). It is just awesome!

We will be leaving to go downstairs to the restaurant soon. I am getting HUNGRY.

Last night when we were still in Deadwood we went to one of the casinos for dinner. They had this salmon salad with pomegranets that sounded so good but I do not like the pomegranets so I asked the waitress if she could make me the fried chicken strip salad but substitute the salmon for the chicken strips. They did! It was awesome!!! I really hope that the restaurant here has yummy stuff like that too!

I will admit that I have been craving pancakes! I like to eat them with no syrup. I know not a real good choice but gee whiz I never eat them! So once will not kill me. This is what I will eat tomorrow.

I sure do hope all is well with everyone and that no one is in harms way (in Texas with the wildfires or the flooding in the east coast).

You guys are awesome and I am so glad I found you guys last year!

ok, if you never hear from me again it is because i have been admitted to a home for the ridiculous! i was squaring up a block i made that had extensive applique and beading, and my hand holding the rotary cutter slipped. pause for drama.no blood. i thought i would lose it, and all my hair from snatching it out! the block had a slash across it. omg!! naturally it dipped down below the 1/4 in seam allowance. no way could i redo it. i found the pellon heatbond and grafted a piece to the back and can only pray that the recipient doesn't hate it. as you've probably figured out, it's the christmas block. i wanted to cry. i won't really feel better until the girl who gets it says she can use it. the rest of the blocks are going to be simple ones. i just can't do that again so soon. sometimes i think i'm going backwards in my abilities, and not forwards. ahhhh, heavy sigh.
however, my weight seems to be going down. i had fruit pieces at the movies, maybe a cup or so of pop corn, and water. i am losing weight! i've lost all control! it is up to me!
