I have had & used a rice bag for maybe 8yrs & it's just fine. It's cotton I think.Maybe ppl heat them too long?

I heat it 1min in micro & then usually a couple more times if needed. never had any problem.Maybe make one & use it yourself to see what you think.

when Okay along these lines...I have a question for all y'all...I am making hot/cold rice bags and have been told that denim is the best fabric because it won't catch fire in the microwave...is this true? I would love to make the bags with a variety of fabrics (all cotton though)...

    Hmmm...what do y'all think?

today I am on my way to the doctor to discuss oxygen therapy. It is 100 miles each way so it takes all day. Plus I go see my mama and daddy, a short 1/2 day detour.

drink lots of water and stay on program! those are the rules until I get back! LOL!

Good morning ladies (and maybe gentlemen).

nancia - You are so lucky you didn't cut yourself. People tell me that everyone gets cut sometime - so far I have only been cut once. I'm sure the block looks fine. You wouldn't let anything get out of your house that looked really bad.

MJ - Have a safe trip. That's along way to the doc. Is this a specialist or your regular family doc. I'm spoiled having mine so close. The farthest I have to go is about 40 miles.

I thank everyone for your support and ideas. I am now going to put them into action. I am going to make a menu for the week and follow it strictly. Hubby has already gone shopping for the week so I'm going to use your suggestions and what I have in the house. I'm sure I can get pretty close to a healthy menu for the week. I will do my next menu on Friday so I can make a grocery list off the menu. Hubby goes shopping Saturday. Now for the exercise - I'm determined to start swimming again. I think I'll start by going back to water aerobics. They were hesitant to have me participate because of the hypoglycemic episodes but it's been a week since I've had one and besides I've never totally passed out so I think I could get out of the pool before that happened. There's a life guard there so it would just give her something to do. LOL

Yesterdays's food wasn't so good - GS cooked and I just can never say no to him when he asks if I want something to eat. That will have to change or I will have to modify what I eat because he cooks things I could do that with and I know he wouldn't mind.

Missy - Hope you and Cathie had a wonderful night in the bridal suit and the rest of your trip is full of happiness. I don't know about the pancakes though!

I am working one day at a time at taking control back!

Omigoodness! The time in the hot tub was HILARIOUS! Okay so super-huge me trying to get into this hot tub when Cathie already in it was so funny! It surprises me that Cathie did not get sea sick from the water sloshing all over the place. LOL!!

We stayed in the hot tub no more than 10 minutes. If I ever tell you guys that I want to get in a hot tub PLEASE smack me in the forehead to wake me up out of my rediculous dream!

We won a TON of money on the slot machines yesterday THAT is great news. It is 11:33 am and I have not eaten pancakes. I have snacked a little on vanilla wafers but no pancakes! Yay for that too!

Cathie went to the casino so I could sleep in and I am waiting for her to get back to the room.

I have been watching the news about the fires in Texas periodically and it just breaks my heart watching this disaster happen. My prayers are out to all who are affected.

I am praying for all of you guys and hoping that we all make it past the trials we are going through individually. MJ you have my thoughts and prayers as you are going to the doctor. Hang in there on your long drive!

mim, why do you feel lazy? I can walk two miles, but I can't clear a brushpile or cut up a tree.

nancia, how aggrevating to cut a finished block. When I am alone, I don't close the cutter when I lay it down. I don't how many nicks I have had from just reaching for it without looking. I guess I'll be in the room next to yours.

Missy, it's not for me to ask, but can you eat cookies and pancakes and have room for your necessary protein? You know they'll still be there when you reach a desired weight.

Jeanne, three cookies isn't terrible unless they were jumbo size. I had two no bakes and strawberries at our coffee hour.

Weight is below a magic 0 - hooray, but I'm not too excited. I celebrated this one several months ago and didn't hold it. I hope I have better luck this time. Xylie, that's 3 1/2 pounds for me - am I still ahead?

Not much going on here. I have some fabrics to get in the mail and the PO closes so early now, so that's first after my exercise program. Then back to piecing the back for the Carpenter Star. It's nearly done.

Did I tell you I hate electricity? I bought a heavy iron at a garage sale just for pressing backings. I used it yesterday. It worked very well, but when I passed by a few hours later, it was still hot. Apparently the off switch doesn't work. Do I trash it or use it just for pressing large pieces of fabric and unplug it after use? It was a blast from the past using liquid starch and putting the dampened backing in the fridge, but it worked out perfectly. My girls played in dresses with very full skirts, so I am familiar with starch. The iron is harvest gold, which means it is probably from the 70s. Gee, I have a food processor to match.

    Have a healthy eating day.

MJ is on the road - good luck at the doctor, our illustrious leader, so I'll ask the questions today.

What are you doing that you love?
What are you doing that you don't like to do?
    What can you stop doing?
    What can you start doing?
What will you continue to do?

Look at the activity in your life and be sure you are doing it for the right reason, not out of habit, guilt or forced obligation. Rather because it is fulfilling.

You have nothing to lose but your body clutter.

This is adapted from a decluttering site - I hope she doesn't mind. For us, stress leads to 1) overeating or undereating and 2) a change in hormones that make our body hang on to pounds. We've got to lower the stress if we want to lower the weight.

I am losing weight and getting healthier.

I unplug my iron when I'm done -- I don't like the ones that turn themselves off and I don't trust switches -- I have my iron set at the heat I like and I don't want to fool with success LOL

Besides, it is my fav iron -- fifty cents at a church sale 5 years ago.

I am glad everyone is working on their weight and healthier lifestyle. I know you are having success even if it doesn't seem like it. I keep telling myself that I didn't gain each pound all at once, it was one calorie at a time. So the weight will come off as I/we cut one calorie at a time. My problem? I can't get started. Here it is 12 days into the month and have had one day that was fairly successful. Right now it is all I can do to deal with things I can't control. I just don't seem to have anything left. I am staying aware and doing what I can. I doubt I have lost anything -- just hope I haven't gained.
