good for you to do your research!
The reports all said what a great car it was, as long as we didn't to speed up steep hills. Our Rav 4 is 22 years old but still runs like a top! Only have had to replace a muffler. We joke that it's going to outlive us.

Toyota trucks are that way. We have a 2008 Xrunner that we bought in Nov, 2007. Has almost 100,000 miles on it and runs like a top despite being fairly highly modified and having a supercharger. It will speed up steep hills.

I am also one that shops around. I rarely buy something for the first price I see. I never thought to check Consumer Reports for a quote when car shopping although we do have a subscription. I did check their magazine for average prices, etc. We usually buy used cars rather than new. They are cheaper and last just as long. Someone else has already taken the big depreciation when you drive it off the new car lot.
