Silk Pillowcases

Silk Pillowcases
My SIL wants me to make her silk pillowcases for Christmas. I started researching silk fabric and am overwhelmed by the different kinds etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction? She said she has used the same ones for twenty years and needs new ones. They are supposed to be better for your hair and skin to sleep on....(I know this isn't a quilting question, but I need help!) Thanks!

Did you google silk pillowcases. Lots of info there. You can purchase them. Price might not be much different from making vs purchase. I would also consider the difference there might be in silk for bedding and silk used in clothing.

Silk is tricky to work with if you are not used to it -- very slippery, can snag, etc. It seems like a much better idea to purchase readymade silk pillowcases!
I did find these on Amazon, which are made from charmeuse silk:

Edit: Oh, and I found this website that sells charmeuse 100% silk for about $20/yard:
