    Default Sisters, Oregon wildfire!!!

For those that know Sisters, Oregon (where the big Sisters Quilt Show is located), there is a wildfire that literally "blew up" yesterday. Today's news says it's about 6 miles from the Sisters town......but with high winds expected today, it's rather scary! So far, some cars have burned, roads and campgrounds closed, and some housing divisions are put on ALERT -- to be prepared to evacuate. It was first reported at 10:45 AM Sunday and grew to 1500 acres within hours.... Here's a report page...for those that are interested. http://inciweb.org/incident/3244/

That has to be so scary for the people in the area. Hope everything comes out okay.

I hope it can be contained & not destroy this lovely area. Hoping Jean Wells shop is in no danger, she does a fantastic job of promoting quilting through the years! http://www.stitchinpost.com/

OMG! Having been thru the recent Colorado Springs fire with my DD, long distance on the phone while she was hysterical and packing the car to flee as firemen ran thru the neighborhood screaming, "Get out! Get out!" with flames 2000' away, I know how stressful and all-consuming this kind of event is. And how dangerous for residents nearby.

I pray for all of you there, even those who will not be closely impacted by the threat of flames, because all your thoughts and energies will be focused on the news and your friends, family and rescuers. May you be kept safe.

Please keep us posted and thanks for the link to the incident reports.

Just had a news blurb that said it's up to 4300 acres, but thankfully the winds are blowing and pushing it southeast....AWAY from Sisters and the homes in the outer ways.

The latest update said the fire was up to 4300 acres....and heading southeast from Sisters. The winds are blowing the right way for a change! The town IS spared.
