Found it on google, but when I clicked on the thread, it said the thread I was searching for "did not exist."
That's the thing. Site search here uses Google. It's basically a regular Google search limited to the posts of this site. So I'm trying to figure out why it's not working as well as it used to.

Are you sure it's finding all the posts when it does its search?

I know when I wanted to look up something that I knew of three times the word was used, it only returned one.

I don't think I've ever been able to get a response with the word in the subject (or title).

I've searched for a couple of things, and got the message no such subject exists, but when I google the terms, I get links back to the board on those subjects, so I know they exist.

Search getting worse! I copied some subjects from the subject its self, pasted in the search and it wouldn't bring it up!

Thanks for all your input. I'll contact Google's support to see if they can help with this. If not, we'll see about setting up custom search.

Really glad you asked this question. As long as I've been here, the Search function has been, well not great. :(

Let me illustrate with an example, currently there is a topic on the Main board with a thread title: "new Bernina 830". At the moment it is on the first page.

Try doing a Search for Bernina 830 and that thread does not even come up in the results. Maybe the Search function misses the thread titles?

With the wealth of information that has been given on here over time, if the Search function was a better one, then the board would be incredibly more valuable.

    :) :)

I even typed in this subject (copied it really) and it wouldn't bring it up!

I changed the search function on the site.

The layout is simplistic, since this is just for testing. But it should work better that what we had before in terms of finding relevant posts.

Please let me know if the quality of the new search is better or not.

Also if you run into any problems, please let me know.
