I think he forgot about the steel industry being enlarged as we build more fences around larger pieces of property to house the horses, thus increasing revenue to the county coffers in property taxes, since more people would be able to buy property, since the govt would relinquish its hold on land that it cannot maintain, but would be maintained by more landowners, making the desert to bloom like a rose.
Not to mention, the waist creating exercise of shoveling manure!
Ahhh, rip out the rose garden at the white house, run in a few horses, and every time a politician in DC thinks they have a good idea, they can go out and shovel manure for a couple of hours, since NOTHING clears the brain like fresh air and good manual labor (I know, it is my old joke, but it fit!)
The man has a plan ... may his tribe increase!<wave>

I'm not one to buy a ton of stuff for the horses (except for halters, lead ropes, lunge lines, buckets, heated buckets, combs, brushes, surcingles, bridles, bits, side checks, cruppers, whitening shampoo, treats, flax, feed, hay, shavings, stall mats, fencing)--and mine don't involve clothes for me..thank goodness, but the vet was just here to geld Tucker (it was horrid--I've been in the barn for 2.5 hours and am eating soup to warm up and head back out) and it was $329. But poop makes our gardens the most prolific in the county.

Stall mats = Recycled tires! The man is solving more problems than any of the politicians and bureaucrats have done. What a deal! <wave>

You can give tax credits based on the amount of time people spend
working, riding and hanging out with their horses, which will
    automatically make them healthier.
This part is quite true I think. My doctor usually has to call to ask me to come see her because I haven't been in so long. I tell her she heard my voice so that means I'm fine. I'm telling you--having to get out there for 2 hours a day--365 days a year--no matter what the weather--it's wonderful!!! Seriously--I'm not being sarcastic! :-D

Was reading a 10+ year old Country magazine and someone quoted Will Rogers: What is good for the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.
Thought the quote came at a most convenient time for this thread <wave>

omak--I've seen that on posters and t-shirts "The outside of a horse is very good for the inside of a little girl."

    So true.

You can't even BEGIN to name all the benefits! I used to run a boarding stable in a bedroom community and I can tell you that the BEST decision you can make for your daughters is to get them a horse!!!

Can I trade in my horse for a long arm? I'll make quilts with horse fabric - I promise.

I think that is the more accurate quote ... "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man" ... and, was credited to Will Rogers ... the posters and t-shirts couldn't quote a better old American cowboy, could they! glad to know that it hasn't been relegated to an old Country magazine ... and, I do agree ... it is so true! <wave>
