Isn't technology great....as long as it doesn't crash? I feel your pain and hope you never have to do that again!!!

I might swear, then have a stiff drink. I'm not so very computer savy, but my husband is, however, I've heard him swear a time or two when something crashes on him. He preaches back up, always back up, but sometimes it isn't enough. Presumably nothing is truly lost, but it depends on who is fixing the computer.

Well, you know what I will be doing in the next twenty minutes, saving all my quilts and other items I made. Thanks for reminding us. Sorry it happened to you but go ahead and yell to the top of your lungs.

    Then, have a good day.

    That's a great idea!

Same thing happen to me on my laptop. Took it in to be fixed the store said everything was aok to go. Went on a business trip and when I went to use it that night it wouldn't work. I fooled around with it for over an hour and finally got it to work. I then had to take it in (to someone else so that I could get my games and other things to work. The first place said they could fix it for $49 well the bill ended up at $149. When I asked about the higher price they gave me the old song and dance. By that time I was ticked and just got out of there. It ended up costing me a total of over $200. to get it working the way I wanted it to.

I don't know if we are allowed to share sites on here, but I am now using the free Mozy backup. They have a paid subscription, but I think the free one backs up 2G. I know it gets all my documents (you can choose what to back up). It stores your info on their server, not on your PC anywhere. It's encrypted, so it should be private even if hacked.

I learned about Mozy from Kim Komando emails I get.

If it happens to me again I hope Mozy will have my "stuff"
Has anyone else used Mozy? It certainly sounds interesting, but I 'd like to hear a few more reviews before I try it.
