Congradulations!!!!!!!! As far as your relative-he is an in-law and just a dummy. Be happy to celebrate 25 years of marriage to a great guy.

So sorry that someone ruined your surprise, it seems that some people just have to be the center of attention, even if that attention is negative.

let me tell you this one which almost backfired. I was going to surprise my hubby with a birthday surprise cook out. His friend came over [he knew of the party] and my hubby kept serving him the koolaide I had made till it was about all gone, and I had hamburgers galore in regrig ready for the grill but he did question that ,they finally went out to finish up in the field and I reminded my hubby to be in @ 6 because a friend of his was going to stop by. All went well and little later he asked me what happened to that friend that was suppose to come....my little white lie. To this day I never knew why he didn't catch on but I said no more me doing surprise parties.

Our son is in college and just left from Christmas break last weekend. Today my BIL came into my ofice at work and said" That party at your house tomorrow,
well I won't be able to come cuz I will be working. I had no idea what he was talking about. When I went for lunch I asked DH about it. He was so mad... He (with the help of a lot of friends and family members) have been planning a surprise anniversary party, for me mostly, for over a month and my BIL had to spoil it 1 day before the party. I don't like to talk mean about people but I swear he isn't happy unless he is making someone else unhappy. I am sure I will still enjoy the party, they are planning on around 100 people to come, but why do people have to do mean things???
Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. My husband was planning a surprise birthday party (Jan 1) for me, inviting my dad, son; nothing big. Cooked all day. Then my dad calls and asks me what time he is supposed to be there? I didn't know what he was talking about until he told me my husband had invited him to dinner. My husband is still p****d over this one!

It seems we all just might have one or two of these types in our families, I do.

Ignore him, love your DH and go on to have a really great time and let us know about it all later! :)

I think that qualifies for the "don't invite in the future" list...

or at least the call in invitation AFTER the party has started.
