I know just what you mean about not being able to just NOT help out. Love them doggies!
He's a beauty. And looks like he'll be a good dog for whoever ends up with him.
    Thanks for doing that.

He is such a handsome dog! I feel your pain!
We had to give away my dear cats because of my DGS's asthma. I miss them but they can't replace the love I get from the little ones!  :-D

We used to take in rescue Dobermans "JUST TILL WE FIND A GOOD HOME FOR HIM/HER" and you know darn well what happened. Just what they were hoping for. We always fell in love with those beaten/starved dogs that snarled so horribly at the rescuers, and darned if they each one in their turn became friends, guards and helped us raise our kids. They were inside the house as much as out, and thought they were our bigger kids who happened to have fur. When the horrid kidnaping of well known Steven Stayner happened at the same school my son was starting kindergarten in, one of the biggest of them walked with me and my kid back and forth to school for over a year. He would shove himself between my son and any adult who happened by. We never, ever regretted taking in a single one of them.

Have you looked into getting a Chihuahua? I had some family members years ago who raised long haired ones and sold them almost exclusively to families with asthmatic kids.

I have never heard of that. They definitely aren't on the "hypoallergenic" list. But everyone is different as to what they can be around. [quote=Ramona Byrd]

I live in the south and I don't know why, but it seems there is a prevailing attitude that animals are disposable! It sickens me and makes me ashamed. People don't get their animals spayed/neutered and then when they are pregnant or have offspring, they dump them on the side of the road. My husband and I do what we can - even if we can't bring them home, we carry food in our vehicles so we can at least make sure they have a good meal. At one time, we had four dogs and three cats that were all rescues. Now that we are getting older and can't keep up with them, we at least try to find homes for them when we can.

The only thing worse in my opinion is the way people treat other people.

I'm a big softie too...currently we have two dogs and three cats, all rescues. My heart just melts for animals, and my husband is a lot like that too, although he won't admit it!
This is our Australian Shepherd Zoey, my DH's favorite! She's very active and hyper, but super-lovable and sweet!
