Sounds like a very productive day. My daughters both showed Dorsets in 4H, although we purchased from a breeder instead of raising our own. I miss having sheep now that our girls are grown.

Wow is shearing always that fast? Sounds super speedy to me... although I'm sure the sheep appreciate not being on their backs too long.

The dorsets are a meat animal so we sell our wool.You can spin it but it doesn't have the kink of some breeds. Our shearer comes from MA. He makes a swing through western NY and then goes to Wales for several months. He sheared over 7,000 last year. This is the 5th year he's come to our farm. He's only a couple of years out of college. I don't spin but my aunt does. I crochet, my dd knits. Someday I'd like to learn to weave. We just butchered and I picked the lamb meat up yesterday. Mmmmm, leg of lamb and mint jelly.
