cool! My world of berry knowledge is growing. I didn't know that blackberries don't grow all over the world. Every few years, my aunt would come from Massachusetts, pick a ton of blackberries, spend a few days canning them into jelly and then shipping them back East because they don't have blackberries back there ... sometimes, we just need a nudge to show us how small we have made our world.
night all <wave> again

WHAT??????
I grew up in RI and we had blackberries in our yard. Also had raspberries, blueberries and huckleberries.
Also had some bayberry bushes too...mom and I would make candles from those.

Wouldn't your canned raspberry mush be like jelly?

Yeah, if I added some pectin and cooked it a little thicker, it would be jam. (Jelly is clear!) I had to add that, because my grandma taught me how to make jam and jelly, and jelly making is a lot more work! You have to strain the fruit through cheesecloth and only use the juice for jelly. But you probably already know that. Sorry   8)

And I'll bet you didn't see much of it at home. You didn't need to, you had the fresh stuff. They just shipped the canned stuff on to us poor schmucks in the south who don't have any! LOL

LOL ... I can only go by what she told me ... out here, the blackberries grow wild and are noxious weeds. Is that how they grow in RI?
I just came in from the shop and am now REALLY on my way to bed!
I will dream of jelly/jam and how to use kleenex and panty hose to make jelly without having any seeds in it.
I took a master food preservers class, and that was the first time I knew that they froze blackberries!
I live a very protected life <g>. Night all <wave>
