I have not worked since 1990, stayed home and raised my daughter and foster kids. but, next month I start training for a CNA. I've been taking care of my mom for a long time and now she's in the nursing home where I will be training. I'll be able to see her every day and also keep an eye on her care.

You'll love it, I hated it when I had to leave. I was called back twice to work but it went into new management. My Mom and 3 daughters work there and love it also. Gives you such a rewarding feeling. :XD:

You're going to love being there but you also have to know, you're going to see a lot of sad sights. I've been a CNA, had to leave it alone. Very emotional but then you'll have a special reason for being there. I went to another home and got into dietary, loved it and became assistant. You can still interact with the residents, find what they like to eat, send them special treats and extras. As a CNA you can request those extras to make them happy, as long as it's on their menu list! You'll love it and congrats!! I wish I could go back to work but the bones wouldn't let me now. :-(

Good for you - and your Mom, too.

Good CNAs are a gift from God to the world.

    Thank you!

I really loved those people when my late DH was in a nursing home for 3 years. He grew to love them also, and even on his last day he was brought back from the ER and taken to a new room. He demanded loudly that he return to his old room and "His" special helper, Cynthia. They let Cynthia go to his new room just to please him. Dear Cynthia, I wish you a lot of happiness.

Loved working third shift in the nursing home..you got to talk to the residents a lot. Used to tell them we had to change their beds because the Pee Fairy had flown over their beds. Learned a lot from those sweet little old people. Well,,,,most of the were sweet!!! Best of Luck
