I bought a set of Cutco knives before I was married. Been married for 43 years. I have had one knife replaced and the whole set sharpened only once in that time. They are worth every penny that you will spend on them.

Costco sale rep and reinds was demoing knives for my then wife and I. He asked if we knew what a tang was. Then he looked at her and said, Of course, he does, bu tdo you? He'd seen some of my live steel. (swords and daggers) Their knives are very good.

Cutco, without a doubt. They are expensive, but there is a lifetime guarantee. I just had a few sharpened by Cutco, free of charge - only paid shipping. They replaced a butcher knife that I had from my mother. The knife is 40-50 years old. They have specials , especially during the holidays. Best knives ever.

Cutco are great.
I have a butcher block of Kitchen Aid knives dh bought. I usually like Kitchen Aid products (like appliances), and these are stainless steel, look great, but will rust very readily. So disappointed I hardly ever use them. The edges also nick and the flat surfaces pit. That's saying something for knives that only dh occasionally uses. Don't buy those.

We only have two of the Cutco steak knives left from a set of four....where the other two went is a long story. Husband mentioned a year or so ago that he would like to have a couple more of them but thought they were too expensive even for his wallet. Well thanks to this posting I found them on Amazon and can you guess what he's getting in his stocking this year??
