    My DD was let go from the nursing home she worked in almost a year ago due to over staffing. She was also off work for a while due to a cast on her foot. Well when she went back to reapply the administrator told her she did not give a 2 weeks notice. HUH?????? She can reapply when a year is up (that is in May). Talked with the nursing home lawyer he said to give the admin. a call. Itold him who do you think told her that stuff. He said he will talk with him and for her to call back tomorrow. He has been avoiding the calls. There was no problem with her work ethics, or how she got along with all. Some girls accused her of doing drugs to get the heat off of themselves( she kicked that habit long time ago).

    Keep your head up and keep smiling!! You already have a foot in the door, redo your resume and keep up the good work in the meantime. I'm sure that things will work out just fine for you, don't stress please--the kids need you!!!

    living in limbo is extremely stressfull, unfortunately it sounds like this is going to be the case over and extended period of time. The best thing you can do is to try and remain in a positive frame of mind and LOOK AFTER YOURSELF!!!! I can't stress that enough. Do things that calm you, eat properly, and try to relax.....a lot easier said than done, I know but you have to cope. Try yoga!
    I am a foster parent here in Canada and have been for 10 years.....living in limbo, and stress are part and parcel with dealing with children and the system. I wish you the best in your future job!

    (((HUGS))) I would think that for this position, they would choose those who have had a good and consistent background. This is a very touchy legal area, and to bring in an unknown versus one of you , would not be real prudent on their part :wink:

    I loved the answers that others have given you. My thought as I read your post is this...."will it do any good for you to worry about it?"

    Worrying about it is not going to help you and it may make you sick. Do what you need to do..i.e. continue doing a good work at your job; be positive at your job; and make sure you know what is going on around you...like if there are other job opennings available....but in the meantime...be positive that your job will be there for you after July.

    Can you practice "interviewing" with someone who knows the job? I think many of us are not good at or updated in our interviewing skills, particularly if we have been doing the job for a while.

    Break your job down into the different aspects and assign tangible examples and statistics to each area. You need to be able to sell yourself honestly. The more examples and scenarios you have in your holster, the better you can shoot from the hip.

    The big question is: Why should I hire you instead of all those other candidates? That's the question you must answer. If you can answer it yourself in front of a mirror, then you can tell it to the interviewer. Your energy will carry you through.

    Most of what we worry about never happens. I know for myself that when I over prepare for things they rarely happen. A lot of time and energy were wasted with little return. So expect the best and plan for the worst and you will be prepared for whatever the future brings. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Having recently been on committees to hire new teachers, aides, etc. I second the bit about being able to clearly state why you should be hired over other applicants. This is the one question our principal asked all the applicants, and he discussed their responses to this at length when we conferenced after each interview. We could tell who had thought about it and who hadn't. Given all your experience, you should be able to answer the question, but practice helps. Best to you.
