Stuffed animal patterns
#1
If any of you could share your simple stuffed animal patterns with me, I would really be grateful. I make them for the dememtia patients at our local hospital. I have been making just teddies and getting very tired of the same pattern. They would have to be the very simple ones with only two pieces, a front and a back, the kind you can stuff with batting. I use fabric markers to draw the faces on, because they can't have buttons or anything that might be swallowed. No more than a foot high would be best. Thank you in advance, for your help.

On another thread dotcomdtcm shared a link with some really simple patterns. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-151790-1.htm
You could also use simple coloring book pages. You might have to increase or decrease the size.

Simplicity has a pattern for a bunny, bear and dog that is fast and simple. Two pieces, one for the front and one for the back. the shaping is done with darts and gathers.

Funky Friends Factory has some cute ones, too.

would be easy with a single fabric. You could cut the shape from foam to stuff the animal.

Here some I have used (or at least saved the link to :)
Some really cute sea creatures - fish, seahorse & starfish are only 2 pieces, http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog...0stuffies.aspx
Cute bird pattern, http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/wp-c...pattern1-1.pdf
Picture of bird, http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/
The owlivia and snail stuffies from Moda Bakeshop might also work http://www.modabakeshop.com/search/l...tuffed%20Stuff
Finally, take a look at mooseBstitchins stuffy pages. Though they are designed for embroidery machines, you could probably make them with a regular sewing machine. Before decorations, they are all 2 pieces. http://moosebstitchin.net/stuffed_an...olls_index.htm

Thank you for your suggestions. I did find the owl and made it print much larger. The patterns have to be really plain, no extra sewn on pieces that could be chewed off, etc. just a front and back and no added pieces that are sewn on seperately. The ears would need to be part of the template. I really do appreciate your help. It is hard to find free patterns to use. I have bought some, but they end up being too costly.

They don't like me to use foam. I use polyfill. Thanks for the suggestion though. It was very kind of you. I did look at the Simplicity pattern, but it is too detailed for making for charity.
