I used to make my own, but in recent years I've gotten lazy and just use Stove Top! And yes it goes in the bird and in a pan so there's plenty for everybody. The part in the pan is pretty dry though, but plenty of gravy takes care of that...

YES YES AND YES!!!

I bake mine in a 9X13 so there is lots of crusty parts!!!

I make my own bread to cut up to make the dressing.

Saute the onions & celery in the butter.

Yummy!

I make the cornbread dressing almost the same as you. The only difference is that (once a year only) I make bacon, crisp it up and then crumble it into the bread, veggie mix. I also add a little sage. I worry about the safety of putting the dressing into the turkey, so I bake it in a separate casserole dish (it also then has the crisp top that my husband likes).

Anyway you make it ... always great!

I stuff my turkey. I love stuffing an all year long if I stuff a bird I make all different kinds of stuffing. Apple/raisin, cranberry/orange, or sausage. However for Thanksgiving I like a plain old fashioned cornbread stuffing. I make the cornbread the day before when it is cool I cut it into cubes and let it sit out to dry. I also make a loaf of white bread and do the same thing. In the morning I chop onion and celery and saute in butter and oil until golden brown. I add chicken broth, seasoning and then the breads. I toss until just coated and moist. Then in the turkey it goes. YUMMMOOOO.

What do you do??????
Well, I start off the same as you but use only regular (no corn) bread.....I do take and egg beaten with milk and mix well in the bread.......
I used to stuff but now do dressing
..............(SEE HOW SMART I AM, TLRNHI)........
seems the family like the crunchy topping from being baked uncovered.

Enjoy whatever, ladies.......I know that I will !!!!!

Tonight is our church Thanksgiving dinner so I have a turkey cooking right now. I make stuffing, celery, onions, sage, butter, salt/pepper and HOT DOG BUNS. Makes a great stuffing. My Mom's recipe except for the buns, that's my addition.

I would love to know more of this. ie., what temp for the oven, and. Well the only items in my stuffing are; bread (of course), celery and onions (cooked first in butter), sage, s&p, chicken broth. Would this work doing the stuffing balls?, cause those sound good and perhaps could be frozen for whenever. What do you think?

Just a bout the same as you do, but add some apple or cranberries. Sometimes oyesters. The leftovers always ake a casserole we call Marie's concoction. Delicious. But I guess I'll have to use Stove Top this year, just hubby and I and he can't eat much of anything right now

Dressing, baked in a 9x13 dish. I got the receipe off Foodnetwork one year. It uses 2 kinds of PF bread crumbs, sauage, chopped apples, onions, etc.. Emiril's , Everyone seems to really like it :)
