I don't use much sugar but when I do I have been using Splenda. I have quit using some things because they use sweeteners that have aspertain in them. That's the main culpret IMHO. When I bake, I use real sugar or brownsugar. But I don't bake too much. I use honey on toast or biscuts.

Can't believe how much time I spend reading labels regarding sweeteners. I stay away from aspertame and corn product as if they were the mumps or whatever. Corn sweeteners even do a number on me, my son and GD Even one of my cats is alergic to corn products.

It's real sugar or I'm not using it, found out the hard way I'm alergic to artifical sweetners and sugar substatutes(sp). I also use honey and brown sugar and mollasses as called for in recipies as I love to bake. Works for me.
