How awful! There have always been bad people in the world. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Big Hugs.

Well, I did grow up during that time. Yes ,the memories are something else .
Only difference for me is that I ALMOST did get kidnapped . I can remember it like it was 2 seconds ago .
I had to walk 2 1/2 blocks to school . Half way down the last 1/2 a block my would be kidnapper stopped his car next to me...btw...I was in the 4th grade....as he was pulling me thru the window of his car the crossing guard heard me screaming and came running , blowing her whistle. Well I got pushed out onto the ground and he took off.
I was left with a bruised bum , a very frightened mind and a wonderful story to tell grandchildren . Now, all I need is the grandchildren . lol
Believe me ....I gave You the short version

And summer vacation seemed to go on forever! Now it seems years fly by faster than a summer vacation did back then. Guess money wasn't the only thing that went further back then. And when you saw a group of kids, it wasn't cause for worry.

Yes I remember-Getting the neighbor ladies old high heels, stomping on coke or beer cans and walking on them.Skating with skates that took a key as fast as I could down a steep hill in san franciso.Falling and crying all the way home and Mom was their with a band aid and cookies.(she wasn't at work Dad made enough to support all 6 of us.),Walking in the neighborhood in the summer and hearing the ball game playing on lots of radios. Hearing Dad say he was going to go watch the radio show-fibber magee and molly. You always watched the radio then.Going to the saturday movie with mom and getting free dishes, watching 2 movies and cartoons and even a news real for 10 cents.candy was 5 cents. There was lots of penny candy at the 5 and 10 cent stores.Sunday supper, afternoon flying kites. It was a better time because families were closer and neighbors were friends.Like Carol Burnette and Bob Hope used to sing thanks for the memories.Mary

Yes, I remember well. I especially remember having to lick those stupid green stamps in the books and never getting anything for me. I had a boyfriend with a '57 Chevy. Was so upset because he had to sell it when he went to Viet Nam.
Thanks for the memories.

I had forgotten those things. Skates. I loved them and wore the key on a string around my neck like a gold medal. And the cans. I was so upset that Dad took one of my skates to make a scooter for my little brother. So I got back at him and ripped his scooter apart and had a skate board. (Not like those of today) A "real" skate board. Amazing what you can do with a 2x4 and a can of spray paint.
