Ouch! My DH did that a couple of years ago. His bicep was hard as a rock. Went to Dr., they wanted to give him pain meds, he said "No"; took anti inflammatory, iced it several times a day, rested, and it went away.
Hope yours fairs well.

Today's the day for the specialist and I hope everything goes well.
I fell and hurt the bicep tendon in my shoulder, actually it goes from the shoulder to the elbow. It wasn't torn, but just overstreched, I guess, and developed bicep tendonitiss, amd there was a lot of inflammation. It was extremely painful and I couldn't use my arm for a long time. It's still not back to normal and there are still things I can't do, and there is still inflammation and that was over a year ago. The only thing I can do for relief is take ibuprofen which only takes the edge off. And I can't take that stuff too often. So I really sympathise. In a way, I wish I had torn the tendon because surgery can fix that just fine.
I hope the dr. has encouraging news for your husband today and that he gets the easiest, most successful treatment possible and in back to normal soon.
Be sure to keep all of us updated and in the meantime, I'm sending prayers.

CB, sometimes they send patients to Fort Wayne for an appointment with FWO. If that happens, let me know. I will come down and sit with you. Lutheran Hospital is a great place to be. When I worked at the Rehab Hospital we had several patients from your area staying there. So let me know if you get to come this way. Praying the docs can fix him up! Hugs! Nora
