You are listening to your own heart. Remember the woman who gave her last penny (or whatever the currency was)...God Bless you!

You are by far not a sucker. The Bible tells us how we are to live. And you did just what you were supposed to do. Way to go!!! Thanks for sharing. The good we do will come back measure by measure.

You are a sweetheart to see the inner needs. It is not as if she approached you so therefore chances are she was not looking for drug money. You followed your heart Good for you!!

I am pretty cautious about giving money. People often approach me on the streets, which strikes me as funny since I am so broke myself! Very often they are smoking cigarettes... it's a good thing I've never learned to smoke because I can't afford that myself! (I figure if you can afford cigarettes you're probably better off than I am.)

But this encounter did leave me with a warm feeling.

Thank you all for the kind words, I'm glad it brightened the day for some of you!

I do not think you were a sucker; I think you did what your heart told you to. The world is a much nicer place when we give to others.

I think you did a wonderful thing. Anytime I am strongly moved to do something like that, or whatever other kind of good deed I feel I need to do, I do it, with one exception.
I no longer pick up hitchhikers or people walking along the road. It kills me to pass them by, but my DH forbids me to pick people up for my own safety and the way things are nowdays, I have to listen to him.
Any other strong feeling I get that I need to do something for someone, I do it if it's at all possible. I don't often have cash but if I see someone with the sign about working for food, and I feel moved, I will give that person food. I believe we are given that strong feeling to act for a reason, and we should listen to our gut instinct, as long as we are not endangering ourself or someone else.
