Hey, fellow Texas quilters!!! I need help!!! I am a Texan, but am married to a "foreigner" (an Ohioan!) I want to paint a block similar to the barn blocks from up north to mount on my fence. What I want to do is create a pattern that combines elements of the Texas star with elements of the Ohio star. Here's my problem...I have a pattern for the Ohio star, but I can't seem to find one for the Texas Star or the Lone Star. I have looked all over the net, but to no avail. Any ideas for me? All help is greatly appreciated!

OK, now...most of the Texas Star quilt patterns I've found were 6 pointed stars, but the 8 pointed star also seems to be called a Texas Star and/or Lone Star. However, the star of Texas really only has 5 points, as in the Lone Star Flag. I found a book called Lone Star Quilts and Beyond for sale on Amazon.com (not 5 points), and a couple of web sites: womenfolk.com and www.lizardofoz.com.au. Still no 5 pointer. Also found a web referrence called the Texas Ohio Star quilt but each time I tried to access that site the page would not come up. I also have a book by Maggie Malone called "120 Ptterns for Traditional Patchwork Quilts, and that Texas Star and Lone Star has 5 points, but is one 2-piece star appliqued on a plain background circle on top of a square -- not at all as pretty as the 6 or 8 pointed stars made of mulitple diamonds and multiple colors. Those use a 60 degree diamond (for the 6 pointed star or a 45 degree diamond for the 8 pointer. Hope this helps. You might do better with Google. Ruth
