DH expects my sweet potato casserole every year. He could just eat that by itself. Phooey on the rest!

I love it all, but look forward to the dressing (cornbread and sausage) and desserts the most!

I'd also love the wild rice and broccoli casserole recipe!

Going to google hogmaw to see if it matches the picture in my head!

With my folks getting up in age, my family has decided it is more important to spend quality time rather than have to have's as there will be a time in the future where what we have today will have to change and have less overall.
Old saying though, less is more.
The Thanksgiving before I moved here I was alone for the first time in my life. I had pasta for dinner that night. Something simple since it was just me.
Was a real eye opener as to here is what life will be like when parents are gone.

As long as I have my family, DH, 4 sons & wives and grandkids at the table the food will always taste good. Its what I am most thankful for today. Just like the huge dinners of yesteryear are no more, I am sure in future years we will do with much less and still be thankful.

I want potato salad with the usuals, but the kids all want mashed potatoes, so I do both, so I will have potato salad left over.

All I need on my plate at Thanksgiving is bread stuffing from inside the bird, homemade turkey gravy, canned jellied cranberry sauce (I've tried ALL the others - made with orange, apple, pineapple, nuts, whatever - keep coming back to good old Ocean Spray), and creamed onions (the little tiny white ones). GOTTA HAVE the creamed onions. Even if I'm alone, I'll make creamed onions on Thanksgiving. If I go to someone's house, I'll make-and-take the onions - don't even care if no one else likes them.

[stuffing. . So I always make my own-----with lots of sage, lots of celery, lots of onions.

That's my favorite part. I even make stuffing just anytime.
