We have pretty much the usual fair...but the preparation is a issue. The green beans need to be fresh and made with bacon. Of course they're cooked for a long time, Indiana style.:) One thing that is probably different than most of you is the baked persimmon pudding. It's made with small tree persimmons, not the large tropical fruit you can buy in the grocery store. You either love it or hate it. I'm a lover myself, especially with lots of whipped cream.

I am not a fan of turkey..so...I am serving oven stuffer roasters, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied yams, corn pudding, braised brussel sprouts, harvard beets, cranberry relish, rolls, relish tray..pumpkin pie, cheese cake and apple tart. I think this is our traditional family faire.
This is the first Holiday that my brother and his family will be eating at my house. My brother and I had this found memory of my mother making us chocolate pudding every single week as kids. He mentioned it a few months ago..I thought I would make some and surprise him.
    Peace and blessings,
    Happy Thanksgiving QB family...

I'm right with you. I like to mash them with a few carrots, and a hint of fresh ground nutmeg. Sweet potatoes are too sweet for me, but turnips are perfect.

(My brother once announced at the Thanksgiving table that the reason he and I liked turnips was that we were the "bitter unloved children" which caused complete silence for 30 seconds- now we are known in the family as the turnip children)

I agree!! I love it all but really love stuffing, homemade rolls with butter and pumpkin pie with real whipped cream.

My son who once said that the best thing about being an adult was not having to eat anything green if you don't want to ... loves this dish. Yum Yum ... made me hungry just writing all this.
Any chance you might want to share your recipe? I'm always looking for something different to add to the Thanksgiving menu. That green bean casserole is getting old

Sounds like that casserole would be really good. Hope you decide to share it! :)

Oh my goodness.....bless you all who love sage, celery, and onion stuffing. I love smelling up the whole house with sage,,,makes it really feel like a holiday. When I was visiting family in Texas we had a stuffing cookoff. My sister in law made some corn bread stuffing and I made mine. Mine won. Hers was dry as could be. But I may have won because I am the oldest sister and nobody would go against me!! LOL
Also used to have a whole collection of jello molds...remember the copper ones we would hang on the walls in the kitchen? Loved them
