But then you get into 3 months...6 months...that's when it starts to make me nervous. Could I go a year? Just talking materials, I bet I could. But psychologically? OOOOoooo...I dunno....

So, I bought a "lot" of cotton thread, just to be safe. I'd hate to be out of thread if I really resolved *not* to buy anything quilting-related....

    Anyone ever done it?
I have to admit I am feeling very guilty that I may be putting some poor UPS man out of work. I haven't bought any fabric over the internet in about 2 weeks. That is really bothering me; not that I need any fabric, but that he may lose his job because of me.

That's better than me - I have some promised in a week that are several years old!

Yep - done that. My rule was that I could only buy anything IF I truly didn't have a match in my stash. OR if I finished something start to finish from my stash.

OMG - you'd be amazed how many projects I have that don't have mates in my stash (another reason to join swaps). ROFL!

    Self-deception? maybe. Rewarding? Definitely.

LOL Gran of 6, thats just too funny!!

As far as not buying anymore fabric or notions for quilting... I don't ever think I could stop (at least not as long as I am on this board  ) I keep seeing what everyone makes and it makes me want more. I gotta say, I just saw a post on here the other day about the WM BOM fabrics and now I feel I must get some because its just too cute. Being here is just too tempting not to buy anymore :)

I did it for 1 year but I'm afraid that I am back to my old ways.

Oh, that's my problem, too! I never go in the store and see something I just have to have and then buy it. It's getting on-line and finding wonderful bargains that I feel like I just can't pass up, that's my real "problem." I'm still kicking myself over the Valori Wells Del Hi fabric I could have gotten for $2/yd on fabric.com several months ago and decided to be "good" so I didn't get it.

    Yes
My son challenged me to not buy fabric for 6 months except for the Block of the Month ($6) I'd signed up for.
I did it and in the week after the 6 mos I spent a fortune.
