Yes, but don't set it down in the middle of your work area where you might knock it over.

(Been there, done that... and more than once, I'm ashamed to say...)

Can you get to a Home depot or Harbor freight store? I think you can get them in Joanns also but not sure. Get yourself a magnet that is like a wand with an extension on it. You can even pick pins up while you are standing...works great. They are less than 5 dollars.

Definately get a magnet and pull the pins from the pile of stuff! I feel your pain, I spilled a container of the Fons and Porter flat head pins and the heads are the exact same color as my carpet! I'm still finding them, rude reminder that I need to wear shoes in my sewing room.

I feel your pain. A few days ago, I knocked a container off the counter that had varied sizes of nails, tacks, picture wire and picture hangers of asorted sizes. They literally flew all over the room and my pinched nerve was already screaming at me and radiating down to my foot. I didn't cry, though, I laughed at my own stupidity and decided to take a break. Coffee was in order.

Dreamer I have done this too!!! :) I drop things constantly!!
The extended telescopie magnet wand & metal magnetic bowls can be found at Big Lots for under $5.00!
One problem that I have with the metal bowl... when I place it on my ironing board & I forget that it is magnetic. I almost pull my shoulder out of place.... LOL ... when I try to grab the bowl to go back to sewing!
SOLUTION: I bought a couple more of those bowls!!!

It could have happened (and has) to any of us. I like the magnet idea. Works for roofers gathering up dropped nails.

This is the perfect solution. Even a magnetic card (I save all of mine; real estate adds and such). It will pick up the metal and leave the rest. I too feel you are much too hard on yourself. This just happened to me not long ago.
