i save the ones I get (free!!) at hotels. I never use them in the shower so they are great for covering dishes.

Heres my solution~~~I buy the shower/conditioning caps at the dollar store or stores like Dollar General for about 1.25 per box or bag. You usually get 10 for that price and they will stretch over a 13x9 pan without a problem and will often time fit over a platter of meats or veges for your next party. Whenever I find them I buy several packages at a time. Its an inexpensive way to have coverage and I find they actually work better than the name brand ones.

If you want to be real frugal they can be washed and reused-I dont do this very often-it seems I am always covering something like a platter of BBQ that will always find its way to the elastic part of cover

Give it a try and let me know what you think!!
Great idea, but I wonder if they are rated as "Food safe"
I would think they would be as safe as plastic wrap as long as you don't cover "hot" food with them or use them in microwave oven. I use them all the time, small ones and large ones. Thanks for the hint on other supply stores.

I have used them in in microwave and with hot foods before - I am still here and have had no problems-but I do understand your concerns. :-D

You too? I am on the funeral dinner lcommitteee at church-I also buy the large bowls and platters on clearance at walmart target and other places. I bought all the red and green solids they had after xmas some were only .25!! Also if you watch after the summer months these large bowls and platters will also go on sale since next years colors are usually different!!- this way I can just leave the bowl/dish and the church doesnt have to bother returning them. Or if you you take to a BBQ or other function you dont have to worry about leaving without your dish!! I have found they have saved them and re-use for chips bread etc.

Love tips like this. Always using things they are not made for. Makes me feel like I've beaten the system. Like there is a system of bowl covers. If so, we beat them.
