The heat itself doesn't usually make me hurt worse but the humidity makes me feel as if I'm being squished in a vise. I've had a rough time the last couple of weeks, too.

I go and they'd run test and shoot me up with laugnem and send my home with pain pills and it would be two or more weeks before I recovered completely. Then in Feb 2008; I had this happen (for the last time). When I got home from the hospital and finally made it back to work I had an email from my DIL about aspartame poistening. The symptons was what I had been experiencing for years. I ordered the book Sweet Poisining; and even though I'm a hard sell on many things this book made a believer out of me. The stuff it does to your body. I had drank diet drinks for over 30 yrs and aspartame came on board in the 80's which when I really thought back to it was when my problems began. I went off of aspartame and I have had no bouts of unbearable pain since then; baring my arthritis and degenitive back disease but that is heridity. When I told the specialist he asked me to talk to his group that have fibromyalgia because he can't get them to understand. Aspartame has three ingredients in it and one of them is formalgahyde; I know when I die they will put in me but I don't want it before hand. This stuff is made overseas by a country that doesn't use it in their diet drinks but they sell it to us. I don't know if you use aspartame but it's bad stuff and now I read everything because I've found it in things that don't even say it's diet. I found it in cherry flavored Blistex of all things. Please pass this on from someone who hasn't had to deal with this pain since I made the decision to stop using it. On top of that after 10yrs of using thyroid meds; I no longer have to take them. I feel for you because I kind of know what you are going thru and even with the arthritis I know that the weather has a lot to do with how our bodies work.
May I use this on a Fibro group on Facebook?

I too have Fibro....I spend 4 years and 5 docs to try to figure out what was wrong with me. They ran every test they could think of in order to come to the conclusion that there was NOTHING wrong with me and that I needed to see a shrink. I knew that they were wrong and the last doctor actually listened to me and send me to a Neuro. specialist. He did his little test and stated what I already knew "You have Fibromalgia" so my response was terrific! I am not crazy! What can I do to help myself? He said "go back to your doctor I can't help you" I was devistated to say the least. So, at the age of 27 I was faced with a long road of pain and had no idea what to do about it.

Since that time I have been on and off countless medications. The only thing that has worked for me is Cymbalta, at least 8 hours of sleep, mild exercise, and support from those around me.

As far as pain and weather. When a storm is coming my back hurts so badly I just want to cry. Most of the time I refuse to take pain killers (been on that ride too many times and they are so hard on your body), so I heat up one of those corn bags and wait out the storm. After it passes I feel much better. I have also found that the cold hurts.

Another thing that I have found to help is a cleansing regumine. You can find cleansing kits in your local health food store. Find one that suits you best. These are great for getting rid of the toxins that have built up in your body. Many of these toxins make Fibromalgia symptoms worse.

I hope this helped you some.

You certainly may use it. When I read the book Sweet Poisening I couldn't believe all of the side affects it has in it. From little kids having to be put into coma states to stop the siezures because at first they couldn't figure out what was wrong to airline piolets who lost thier license; they even have a 1-800 # for this. I just know that since I went off of all aspartame it has made such a difference. Arthritis and Ankalosis Spondlytis (not spelled right but it is a rare form of arthritis) runs in my family yet I tested negative for everything they tested me for except regular arthritis. thank goodness I have a really good boss because after one of these bouts it would take me a good two weeks to be able to return to full time at work. Even alot of meds have it in it; flavored alka-seltzer and I think it's benifiber; just read everything you can. I have a fatty liver due to rapid weight loss so I try not to take meds since they all go thru your liver so I'm doing whatever I can to keep on going for as long as possible. If you get a chance to pick up this book and read it you'd be surprised to the health risk in using it. The only sweetner I use is either sugar, stevia, Splenda; all of these don't have it in them; equal and most of the other artificial sweeteners do. Good luck on your venture and thank you for suggestions; I listen to all since I don't know it all. If I didn't I wouldn't be doing so well today.

THank you so much Judy...I am sure this will help others. I have never been one to use anything but sugar. I always thought that a natural source of sweetner should be better for you.

yes. the heat is killing me...my key is NOT over due it...which is hard due to the wanting to be outside all the time..AND getting plenty of water, walking and sleep!

as soon as I stay up late a couple of night, I spend a week recovering!
Since I have a lapband I can not take anything for the pain...so I really have to be extra careful!

I guess you all know that Fibro is actually a nerve issue!
I had to learn about it really quickly when they military discovered that my late ex husband had Fibro.(he passed last year due to complications of pnuemonia, the symptoms he had he thought were Fibro related) During the first Gulf war he and many others were subjected to a nerve gas in their training before going to the war. Since then many of those men/women and the medical staff that treated them have passed away after being diagnosed with fibro, MS and Lupus!(my best friend was a Navy Corpmen who ended up firbro and MS, she past last year as well. The navy was studying her and found that the saliva and blood from the men/women she treated while in the Gulf wars were what caused her illnesses. Both she and my late ex served together for 6 years! I lost them both last year within one month of each. He had just turned 51 and she was 52)

There is an ongoing study to determine just how severe and widespread these illness go in connection to the gasses.
It is known that it was so absorbed into their blood streams, that the men carried it in their sperm and many birth defects are also linked to it!

I was told when I was diagnosed that it was like your nerves start short circuiting, everything you do, touch, etc makes them SHOCK you inside and that causes you the pains. Sadly most of the drugs they try to give you for it only make things worse in the long run.
Since I have learned from several neurologist how to LIVE with my fibro, I no longer desire to take any of those meds.
A good nights sleep, mild but consistent exercise, and lots of water help me the most!
When pain is real bad, off to the pool I go...that really helps..also helps make me sleepy!
