But yes his job covers Asia so he is always somewhere exotic. There is a big expat community in Singapore, and from what he say, it seems most of them are ex Royal Marines as he is! Last year he sent us details of the (very exclusive and sumptuous) hotel where they were spending Christmas Day - very, very special. He nags us continually to go visit for a few weeks and "he will show us Asia" - one day maybe.
Oops! Shows how bad my memory is!! But then I dont' see the return addresses as they go to Mom. She has so enjoyed the cards and stamps you and Eric have sent her for her collection.

It is just very interesting to see the differances in people's lives! Especially when you compare differant countries.

I've had alot of fun reading the post and enjoying seeing what and how others celebrate. I have an exchange student from Austria so I've been trying to do our traditions mixed with theirs. I think they celebrate about like the Germans. They speak German anyways. She is suppose to get recipes for dinner and for baking but she's been busy and hasn't gotten them yet. I know they bake alot of cookies but I'm not sure which kind. If someone some Germany could help me out that would be great. She is vegetarian so instead of meat on Thanksgiving we did a squash filled with dressing. I still did a Turkey for us. I'm going to do a ham for Christmas but wondering what else they have as a tradition at home.
I would like to suprise her with a German dish.
    Merry Christmas everyone.

Damn those too quick Australians - I was going to post about Roast Wombat, Koala Pies and Kangaroo Tail Soup and Cockatoo Pudding! No fun now!
It is freezing in Melbourne this year, I may do a full traditional - Turkey, Pork, Baked Vegetables, gravy, and Plum Pudding with Brandy Sauce - if the weather doesn't get better.
    Merry Christmas.
And Katrine, no crowds and crazy parking for me - I ride my bicycle to town to shop, and gifts are from the Internet this year. Too easy, tres facile ;0

    Hey Rainy Day
You are about to get some more cold weather. It's been cold in SA these past couple of days. Sorry about spoiling your fun, but they won't understand about all those delectables anyway.

I know, Mrs B, but I would have had fun. I keep telling myself I'd rather have this than bushfires. A few warm days would be nice - I bet Feb is going to be a stinker - just when the kids go back to school!

nobody has even mentioned yorkshire puddings ;(

this year is gonna be a strange one. usually we all go to my mothers who insist on trying to do everything herself. We usually have roast chook, beef, pork and ham and at least 3 different vegies and yummy roast potatoes and the best yorkshire puddings you will ever taste. But unfortunately my mother is now in a nursing home so we are trying to figure out how to take christmas dinner to her
