I'm happy. There was a little dog running loose in our neighborhood. I first saw her on Sunday and tried to catch her. She was so scared and I couldn't get to her. I sat waiting for her to come to me and she would get close but then run off again. I tried for days. Finally, today I got her. Unfortunately, with my two big dogs, I couldn't take her home. I have taken stray dogs and cats to my vet clinic and they would find homes for them.

As I was leaving to take the little dog to the vet, I called and told them I wanted to have the little dog scanned for a microchip and if she wasn't chipped, then I wanted them to keep her and find a home for her. They told me that the doctors told them they can't do that anymore -- too many people were dropping off dogs for them to care for. My heart sunk.

She was scanned and is not chipped. I knew I was going to have to take her to a shelter. That made me physically ill thinking about it. A lady came into the clinic with a Yorkie and I asked her if her dog needed a play mate. She said yes (I didn't think she was serious). I told her the story about how the little dog was found. We all talked about what to do with her. No one said anymore about a final solution. Finally, I asked the vet people where the shelter was. The lady said 'I'll take her'. I told her that I would give her $20.00 toward getting the dog cleaned up. She said she would pay for it. She would not take the money. Said she would try to find a home for her and if she can't, she'd keep her. I am so happy. I dreaded taking her to the shelter.

I've looked on Craigslist and she doesn't fit any of the 'lost' ads there. I just placed an ad in case someone is still looking for her. I suspect that the little rascal escaped during the 4th of July fireworks. I'm just surprised that no one has been looking for her. Did I tell you how happy I am?
