Today is Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day is often characterized by a heart with an arrow
shot through it. We know it as Cupid's love arrow but far too
often, for far too many, it feels just like a real arrow shot
through the heart. It feels like pain, not love.
Many don't know the story of Cupid. Cupid was born of Roman
mythology and was the son of Venus (the goddess of love) and
Mars (the god of war).
So Cupid's (Love's) parents were Love and War.
What in the world ever gave the Romans the idea that romantic
love was a mixture of both love and war?
What in the world indeed?
