Too Close?

Oh please be careful, I failed to keep my fingers out of the line of fire and ended up slicing off a portion of the side of my index finger and the nail. Ended up in a care center, no stitches, but heavily bandaged for quite a while.

There is a $3000.00 table saw on the market that immediately stops when it comes into contact with flesh, it's called flesh sensing technology. Bad thing about it, is that it destroys an 80 dollar blade and you have to buy a 60 dollar cartridge to get it working again.
Anymore rotary cutting injuries they may invent the same for quilters...lol
Rule #1....Keep fleshy bits away from the turning blade.

So sorry you got hurt - bet you'll be doubly careful from now on. I've been promising myself I'm going to get one of those guards you put on the ruler to prevent those kind of injuries. You should, too! Be careful, girl!

My quilting teacher was very observant and insisted we get in the habit of always closing the blade after a cut. As soon as the cut is made. That didn't prevent me from slicing the side of my index finger off TWICE. The second time DH took it away until I could get a guard on the ruler. I am now much more careful.

I just bought clear corner molding, cut it the length of my long ruler (less a couple of inches on the ends)and velcro stuck it on the ruler. I can remove it any time but don't plan to after hearing these horror tales. I Don't EVER want to experience your pain!
