haa haa
not borax but boric acid. They take it back to the nest.
I read they won't cross talcum powder. I use it on top of my flat hummingbird feeders. (not much wind here) It worked.
One day I saw them coming in my window, so I thought..Haa I will fix you little devils. I sprinkled talcum powder across the window sill. They just went up the wall and around the powder. oh well H$((.

When my husband and I lived in our motorhome and we were at the campground, those nasty creatures would always get into the RV. Our solution was to take comet or ajax powered cleanser, and surround our motorhome with it in a line around the whole outside area. Miraculously, those little creatures didn't come anymore. that power kept them away. The ones inside, were eradicated with teh white vinegar spray. had to do it a few times becuase their relatives were already somewhere in teh rv. but after about our 3rd try, they were gone. In our house, we have no ants and no spiders and no bugs whatsoever. We purchased one of those ridex devices that kill through the walls by electrical current. One in the master bedroom and one in the living room. haven't seen a bug, spider, etc. in over 3 years now.

Bwahahahaha... I live in Florida too, I SOOOO understand this!! best bet is to buy a bag of ant killer (not bait) and spread it OUTSIDE all around the house. Check to see that no tree branches or shrubs are touching the house, no vines, no nothin'. It will help. Good luck. It's a perpetual fight, one of the prices we pay for living in Florida.

Another cheap and easy way is to use dry grits. I live in senior housing and we had fire ants all over because of the thick mulching. So one day I took my box outside and put it on the sidewalk where the ants were. Next day no ants on the sidewalk, so the other residents and I poured out boxes next to the building. Fire ants gone for the whole summer.

We had terrible ant problems, just like what has been written about here. Terro worked for a while but what we found out was that our back yard was full of ant nests. Not sure how many. We tried Terro and it would work for a time but then the ants came back. Finally we called an exterminator and haven't had a problem since. They come out every three months.
Loved the story.

hi Debbieoh! My Auntie Pam says that if you put baby powder across their path, because it is so fine, they will not be able to breath!! BUT, maybe you should post notes telling these ants this !!! I think Florida ants may be to smart for the baby powder, stick with the dynomite !!!! lol debbie in Alberta, Canada
