As a pet groomer, we sometimes find things while grooming. During grooming and bathing we touch and look at the whole dog, from head to toe. Our clients are always thankful when we find something at an early stage. Your baby should be feeling better in a few days. Did they tell you to wipe out the ear with a cotton ball before you put in the drops. You'll be able to tell when it's clearing up, the cotton ball will be clean.

We lived on an apple orchard and our poor dog got earmites several times a year because of all the grasses/sage/greenery around. They are a pain. Make sure you wash the bedding too.
I hope your furbaby gets better fast.

I used to have a small poodle. He would get ear mites on occasion, and I eventually learned that head-shaking was Not him saying, "no." lol.... Apparently, floppy ears create a warm dark environment for those little critters. It's nothing you've done or not done. Some breeds have tendencies toward different things. hope you're both feeling happier soon.

We have two dogs but as they are not very furry and the ears not so floppy they don't get any ear problems. We do however do a eye/nose/ear and paw check weekly. We live on 1/2 an acre of hillside surrounded by bush, so it's easy for someone to get grass seeds, ticks or other bits and pieces happening. We also wipe out ears with a cotton ball, just to get out any dust/grit. This next bit sounds disgusting, but we also have a good sniff....clean non-infected ears shouldn't smell...smell and redness or any excessive gunk on the cottonball indicates something is not quite right.

Don't blame yourself for your little guy's problem, these things happen in the most careful households...bit like kids and headlice! Most importantly you have discovered a problem and are doing something to fix it.

Hope your little friend gets better soon.

Hope that your doggie feels better soon. We had 3 shih tzus and none of them ever had ear mites. We've lost two of them recently, but we still have one left. They did have trouble with their little eyes, and of course rerquired alot of grooming. Arthritis was also a problem in their later years. They're great little dogs.

Aw, Felix is a handsome little fellow! He looks so cute, and cuddly! Hope he is feeling better soon. My big yellow lab gets lots of ear infections, and he acts like a big baby when we have to put the drops in!
Give little Felix a hug for me!

Don't blame yourself our Shih Tsu will be 16 in Jan and he has always had trouble with his ears in warmer weather Our Vet said that it was because of his floppy ears and the fact that he loved to swim at the cottage.Since we live a hour away from the vet she gave us ear wash and drops to have on hand if an infection started.

    Tired out from big swim
