This was sent to a grandparents group that I belong to. It choked me up so maybe having a tissue handy would be a good idea. God bless our Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen/women, Marines and Coast Guardsmen/women.

Excellent video. I am going to show it to my class on Veteran's Day. It bothers me that kids get out of school for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, yet they don't get out of school for Veterans day. No offense to anyone of color, but Martin Luther King Jr. wouldn't even have been able to do what he did if it hadn't been for the servicemen and women who fought and died for all our freedoms.

My dh today was able to video chat with my kids and me for a few minutes. He showed us how he has to put on the 50+ pounds of body armor before he can go out in the field. Tomorrow he is going through a training where they turn over a humvee and he has to get out of the vehicle with all his body armor on. Advanced combat training preparing for deployment is serious business. Some of the guys he is training with right now will come home in caskets. That is a pretty hard to fathom.

WOW! Awesome reminder for all. I will e-mail to everyone I can.
We just had a 93 year old war hero die. He earned a couple of Purple Hearts. We have another 85 + year old who was at Iwo Jima, I believe. He was one of the few who got out. The rest of his platoon was killed. We just had 120 National Guardsman deploy to Kuwait from this county, this week.
I will be going to Applebee's between classes, with some of my classmates who served, my DH, and with those near and far in our thoughts and prayers.

At participating Applebees, they will serve all veterans showing proof of military service, FREE from a limited menu. I think their is a charge for drinks and desserts. Heck, pay it for them. And remember, thank a vet, even one you don't know.
