Am I the only one who gets a little upset when my own family doesn't remember my birthday? My daughter-in-law even called me to see if I could baby-sit. But did she mention my BD? NO!!! She would be very upset if I missed hers or my granddaughters. I even bought my yearly Pepperidge Farm coconut cake so I can celebrate with my dogs later tonight. Yes, I am feeling a little sorry for myself, 69 or not.

I grew up with a mother who said things like: "Were you born in July or October?" (I am the oldest of 6). We celebrated one of my brother's birthdays on the wrong date for 7 years, until we moved and someone looked at his birth certificate.
My parents rarely remember my birthday, and my daughter almost always does. My siblings and I are all pretty hit or miss. I call them all on OR NEAR their birthdays. And they are pretty much the same.
I don't get too worked up about birthdays. There have been a few I spent alone- and with only one phone call. I usually try to give myself a treat- a day of quilting, or something. This year, Jim will be gone on my birthday. So we'll have a pie or something when he comes home.
My 32nd birthday was the worst- I got a body cast that day, which I wore for the next 8 months. I always figure it can't get worse than being 32, using a walker, and getting a body cast. All birthdays look good to me compared to that one.
