Default Using Fabric for Wrapping Paper

I just had to share. I have never used fabric for wrapping paper before but I couldn't find any cute wrapping paper in Hobby Lobby last week, but I did find some cute fabric. Light bulb moment. I ended up sewing the fabric up at each spot where I would normally tape paper with some big stitches in contrasting thread. These are for DD's birthday in November. Halloween is one of her favorite days and she loves dogs. Dog and cats in Halloween costumes. So much fun.

This was so easy to do and something I will probably use a lot more in the future.

Cute fabric! It will be wonderful if she gives the 'wrapping' back to you. Then you could use it in a quilt or something for her. Just a thought.

Cute idea. I sometimes make a pillowcase with fun fabric and use it to wrap a child's present.

Great fabric and solution to your problem.

A number of years ago I made a variety of reusable bags out of Christmas fabrics. Just simple large envelopes really with drawstrings. Now we find a bag that fits the gift and then just reuse the bags within the family.

I like Dunster's idea of the pillowcase. I did that once for a Halloween gift, of course I had to use glow in the dark fabric.

My neighbor needed wrapping paper for a baby shower. She had bought a pkg. of diapers as a gift. It just so happened I had fabric that was baby bottles and diaper pins.

It works great for my quilting friends but not so much for the non quilting ones. LOL They didn't 'get' it.

I've been doing that for years, not that I do much gifting.

Such cute fabric! This post reminded me of when we were doing the project of the month. Back in Feb 2014 we did a pillowcase with drawstring and pocket to hold a card. I only made one and used it for a baby quilt my DH took to Germany. Here is a link back to the original thread. 1-February-2014 Project of the Month, Gift Bag Pillowcase
