I have decided that I want to make my dogs a bed using regular foam and a layer of memory foam. To keep the dirt and moisture from the foam, I need to make a slip-over cover that is preferrably water resistant.

Do any of you know what kind of fabric should/could be used?????

Plan to use denim for the top cover (bought that ages ago). I'll probably make two and use a microfiber for the one in the living room.

You can use one of those flannel-back vinyl tablecloths from the dollar store. I used one to make a changing pad for the top of the dresser when DGS was a baby...worked great! Can also use them to do cushions for outdoor furniture.

I also used the flannel backed vinyl for the bottom of the dog bed. Don't use water repellent spray! It is very attractive to dogs and they will chew on the fabric even if they are not normally chewers.

Thanks for the pointers. At least I know that there are options.

The same fabric that they use to make tents out of is available at some fabric shops, and is water repellent

We had a guy at work who wore pants made out of that fabric. I called him "squishy pants." lol

You could try PUL...they make it one mil thick and two mil thick...its the same stuff they make cloth diapers out of now a days.
