Oh Deb so sorry to hear about your flood, we have lived in our home for 7 years and 5 times we watched the bubbles come up through the floor. We put in a sump-pump and it helps, but we still get water. I too lost some of my sewing fabrics and then moved my sewing room up stairs (much smaller room) but dry. I threw out my throw rugs they got moldy on the bottom. We even took them outside and hung them out to dry hoping to save them. I haven't gotten wet yet...but we are watching. Good luck. I too will be looking into this hydralic cement.

I too had this problem last week which I never had in 7 years at this house. After 2 hours of trying to mop it up it just kept getting higher. My problem was(after calling a plumber) ....there was no electric to the sump pump...just needed to reset the switch!!!! I lost lots of old quilt mags and books and a few other things. Thankfully it was confined to a little area even though it was about 2-3 inches deep. Hang in there... your days will get better.....( I also had to put in a new furnace the next day!!!...not related to the flood).... Last week was so tough that yesterday I went a shopping spree.....Bought tons of Fabric....yippee!!!!!

Oh, so since my DH (and I use that term VERY loosely) has gone to Philly for a week of golfing, when I get things dried up I can go on a fabric spree as my reward????? THANKS!!!! Looking forward to that...though we are predicted for more rain this week, all week...

What a pain. When it gets all dry check to see if you can get some kind of sealant for it. I hate messes like this.

I feel for you and can comiserate also.We have an all glass solarium even the roof and have had very heavy rains the pass three weeks with winds 60 to 70 miles an hour and sprang a leak.I have two buckeys and various containers capturing the rain and it goes on for at least 24 hours no sleep because the buckets have to be emptied every hour or two.Am waiting for our home owners to give us an answer to get it repaired to the tune of $3500.00 ouch.I hope your problem gets resolved it's suppose to rain again tonight.

Agnes in June 1972! Upstate New York! I was having my first baby during that storm! Never forget it! Brought my new baby home and we had no electricity or water!

Deb, I am so sorry you are having this problem. I understand what you are going through. In 2008 we had 27 inches of sewer back up in my sewing rooms. Had never happened in 36 years.
Stacked totes float and tip over.
I washed 52 loads of fabric. Lost over $7000 worth of stuff.
The positive thing is we cleaned out the basement and everything is now on shelves in totes.
You can dry most anything, even our freezer survived, just takes time. If you can when the rugs get mostly dry take them outside to air. Be very careful of the black mold that can grow in hidden places.
Because I could not continue to worry,it would happen again and my machines would get ruined, I moved my sewing to the family room. I use the basement just for storage now. I have pictures on my web shots page,--- under basement flood 2008.

Are you sure it is snow melt? It sound like a broken water pipe from a freeze. Best wishes coming your way.
