Good luck with the new place. Love the "art in progress" name for the room. We have downsized in the last year and a half, and my den is my sewing room, don't have to share it with anyone .

Yes, what part of the SA area? We are just up the road in Kingsland. When do you hope to start quilting in your own piece of Heaven?

Wow - congrats. My DH and I were talking about what our dream home would look like and he said I'd probably want a big quilt room as a top priority - DUH - of course I would - its a dream home!

Congrats! Enjoy! DH sounds like a keeper. We passed on some houses when we moved because of some of the HOA. I said " You can move me to town, but I have to have a garden and a clothes line. Some HOA refused both. So onward we looked and found the house were we wanted and even more important, were we could do what we wanted. I couldn't believe some HOA told us the "Beautification Committee" would let us know in the spring what flowers we could plant. Not for this old girl!

I would not want anyone telling me what I could or couldn't have. We own an acre of property and do as we please.
I now have a large sewing room. A baby gate keeps the cats and dog out. I don't have to keep the door closed.

I COULD NOT live with and HOA, rather have a place without many restrictions, love our 5 acres.

We are just starting the entire process of picking lots and making final decisions. Wont be able to move in till the beginning of next year. The thinking process is fun though.

I know what you guys mean about the HOA but around here we can't get away from them, They just want us to submit plans and the right paper work and they will approve it. We went to the design center yesterday to look around and we are very overwhelmed. I know they are going to nickel and dime us to death but we really want to stay on budget but still have a nice house. Not sure what we will do. My husband is being medically discharged from the army because of severe depression and PTSD. I am trying to keep his life calm but here he goes and says he wants to build a house and not buy an already contracted one. We shall see what happens.
