How exciting!! When I was a little girl, my Papaw gave me a banty hen for a pet. I named her Crissy. She loved ice cream and oranges. LOL!! I kept her one summer and then she went back to my Papaw's farm to live out the rest of her days. She raised many banty hens and roosters for him.

My husband loves chickens! He has about 18 of them and loves to sit and watch them. He says they are a curosity to him. Plus keeps him occupied outside! He hasn't had any to raise chicks yet but hope to this coming spring...

Congratulations Grandma! Banty's are fun, but watch out for the roosters! They can be very stubborn.

How fun! We have 20 chicks that are now 3 weeks old in our bathroom. They still have the heating lamp on them. We got them when they were less than a week old. The grandkids love them. Hope to put them outside this weekend. We've had some unusally cool weather in the evenings here so hopefully it will warm up. We hope we don't have any roosters in the bunch, not suppose to be, but you never know.

oh I love Banty hens... she will be very very protective of them so don't worry about her change in attitude if she was friendly before...she will be again.

They about the cutest baby chicks I can remember.

Lucky you and happy chick day!
